The more and more I think about these leadership seminars we’re doing in August, the more pumped I get. I was in the shower going over some of the things the Lord has taught me about leadership and this one rocked my world. He said, and I quote…
“when will you stop making a whore out of my bride.”
Ouch! That one hurts. If any of you reading this are leaders of any kind and you’re drawing attention to yourself rather than Him, keep that in mind.

In my 6 years with a cell phone, this is the first time it’s happened. I got the White Screen of Death (WSOD)! That means I dropped it, and although it’s fully functional, the LCD is out. It’s just white every time I try to use it. The good news is that there’s insurance on the phone, the bad news is that it’s $50. Dumb, dumb, dumb!
Good thing I still have everyone’s numbers from when I wiped out the memory a couple of months ago. I’m without a cell phone till Monday, so call at home or on Chel’s phone if you need to get in touch with me. No texts!!!
AHHHH!!!!
BCC has given us 3 more lights. Yes, my friends, that’s a total of 8 lights. That means that for lighting at UC we now have 4 ellipticals, 19 par cans, and 1 furman (sp?). We have two dimmer packs, but we really need two more. That would give us full control over all of our lighting and leave us a little (not much) room to grow.
We purchased 2, 10-ft. lighting trusses from the Guitar Center. I wouldn’t recommend buying lighting equipment from them, but the trusses are made of speaker-stand piping and very light compared to the trees we have now. The trees we use on the track now will still be around long after I’m dead and gone. The disadvantage to the trusses is they won’t last that long, but they will be MUCH more portable.
This weekend should be a challenge. We’ve got to figure out how to run the lighting we have, which lights we need control over and which ones we don’t. (We can’t have control over all of them because we’re short on dimmer packs.)
Lighting is one of the many areas that I’m on a learning curve with. Chris at BCC is more than willing to help. I need to utilize his experience to glean some measure of knowledge as much as possible. I’ll be calling/emailing him a lot this week.

I’ve been quickly approaching another gap between projects which could lead to a severe gap in finances yet again (things are still tight now b/c of the last gap between projects). I got a call yesterday and they want me to split time between the two projects for the next two weeks then move completely into the new project and they expect me to stay on the project through January. Whew!
I’m also not good at doing the same things over and over again. I must have change. I’m doing the same basic function, but I’m getting to move between customers, which means the courses are different while maintaining the same overall perspective. It keeps things fresh! It’s nice to enjoy your job! Let’s hope this lasts for a while!

Proverbs 29:18
Without a vision, the people will perish….
So without guidelines, some sort of structure and goals, a people will destroy themselves, a church will fall a part, a company will go belly-up…but what about you? Will it be that bad? No, you may impact a couple of people, raise good kids, serve at the church and be a contributor to society to a whole. I wonder what would happen if you lived life on purpose. I wonder what would happen if we were a church full of people who have goals, if you had a personal vision – one that could change with the ebbs and flows of life, but a solid vision nonetheless. I wonder what kind of impact we would have on the earth.
FDR, Abraham Lincoln, Albert Einstein, Paul, and Jesus didn’t have an impact on the world on accident – they did it on purpose.
What’s your purpose?

Life is tough. I was reading a friend’s blog today, and my response to him and to everyone is – DON’T DO IT ALONE! Sometimes life is overwhelming – work, family, money, church. It just piles up and before you know it, you’re drowning in hurt and unable to overcome even the smallest of challenges. No matter where you are, find someone who knows more and can do it better than you can.
I had the chance to talk with Bro. Bill (the Sr. Pastor at FC) for about a half-hour yesterday. It’s always refreshing to talk to someone who knows more – who understands. Life has tons of choices, and the best thing you can do to make those decisions and live a fruitful life is to base your choices on His Word, His Spirit, and with the counsel of His people. That reminds me, this weekend begins the new message series for UC, Multiple Choice. Can’t wait to see you guys there!

One of the great things about moving to Nash is that we finally got a place big enough to pull out all of our wedding gifts. Many of our gifts were unopened the first two years of our marriage. It was like having another shower! This weekend will Jason and Harmony were here (CONGRATS on the engagement!!!), Harm taught me how to use our Espresso Machine. I’ve been making ‘em like crazy! If our group is lucky, maybe I’ll bust out some Caramel Latte’s tonight!
