Hey folks!
I just wanted to let everyone know about a couple of opportunities to jump in and serve at UC.
1. Video Production – We’re looking for someone who can come in on Sunday mornings during rehearsal and services to run the computer for song lyrics and also videos during services. Skill set needed: servants’ heart, ability to come to Sunday morning rehearsal and both services at least 50% of the time (we currently have someone who can do it 50% of the time – but more about her in next weeks’ spotlight), familiarity with MS PowerPoint and ability to learn other programs as they’re introduced, and teachability.
2. Light Production – our system is simple right now, but it will grow as time goes on. We’re looking for someone who can run the light board (nothing too technical) and can be available for both services. We’d love to have someone creative to help us, but we can teach as we go along.
If you’re interested in serving in either one of these capacities, drop me an email!

This week’s spotlight lands on Zack Hastings! Talk about a utility player. This guys tells me he didn’t have a servant’s heart a year ago, but I’m not sure how much I believe it. Zack has helped us set up almost every week since the launch and I think he’s gonna stick around! In addition to setting up the sound each and every week, Zack sometimes plays electric guitar.
Zack and Ericka have a lovely daughter and brand new baby boy! Congrats, again!
Zack works as some kind of really smart programmer or something like that…far above my pay grade. Thanks again Zack for all your hard work!

Had dinner with the LaGrande’s last night. I broke down and had one smore, but who can resist when you’re sitting in front of the fire on a beautiful night…right back on the wagon this morning! Thanks Ray and Patti for your hospitality! The BBQ and Smore were good, but the conversation was even better!

Got up early this morning and went for a job/walk at the YMCA. At the desk and working by 7:30…good start to the day. Service planning meeting this morning at 10AM with Chel and pastor joe…getting geared up for easter!

Okay….I have a confession to make… I love Celtic music. Over the past couple of years, my wife has opened my music tastes up a lot, but I still love Celtic music. I always enjoyed it, but I spent a week in Ireland in 2001, and it sealed the deal on my love for the Irish culture and music.
Last night we took Chel’s mom (Judi) to J Alexanders for dinner followed by watching Celtic Woman at TPAC for her Christmas present. It was fantastic. I’m pretty sure they have jr. high kids running the spotlights, but other than that, it was fantastic. Their stage setup was similar to what we use at the UC, you know, plus about 35 electronic lights. The quality of sound was so good that we debated the entire night about whether we were a pre-recorded mix or a live mix. These women had such fantastic control of their voices (something I really lack). They did some Irish classics (Danny Boy) and some more recent songs as well.
Getting out of the parking deck under the library was a 45 minute ordeal! I’ve got to find somewhere else to park downtown for future events at TPAC. Chel and I are trying to decide if we’re going to invest in tickets to Cirque Du Soleil. We saw Mystere at Treasure Island last year in Las Vegas…it was fantastic.

Okay…so I’m suckin’ it up at exercising. I haven’t been to the Y yet this week (which means I haven’t weighed). The good news is that I haven’t had one sweet thing this entire week and I’ve cut my bread intake to next-to-nothing and significantly reduced my meal sizes. When I start eating right, I immediately feel better. I wonder why I don’t eat right all the time….
